Totally amazing units, Sphincters work well in iced-up cracks, aside chockstones, or in frozen moss or mud. Many big wall and alpine climbers are, however, discovering the Sphincter's awesome potential as a direct-aid piece for aid climbing. Another Bob Culp design.
