Welcome to the next generation of belay devices. With traditional belay devices there has always been a trade-off. To get a really positive lock-off you've had to accept a slow and jerky feed, while devices with a fast feed have always left you wondering if you can really save your partner's butt if she takes a flyer. The unique double V-notch of Jaws results in fast and secure lock-offs for hard falls and gives an extraordinarily smooth feed when yarding out rope for a quick clip, regardless of what rope or rope combination you're using. Jaws is the ideal belay device for use with twin or double ropes because the V-notches will catch an 8mm rope as well as they do an 11. Rappels are smooth and controlled with Jaws. The large rope slots make it easy to set up the rappel, the V-notches control the speed and the flat rope path really prevents kinking. For low-angle slab rappels you can turn Jaws around so the free end of the rope runs over the smooth side. Weight: 68g.
