Camp Yo-Yo Belay Device

The YO-YO is a belaying device for the leader or second on a rope. The movement of both hands allows slow and gradual running of the rope. Quick pulling on the leader rope causes the device to lock the rope. It must only be used with single UIAA dynamic ropes from 10 to 11 mm diameter and an HMS carabiner. Rope and carabiner must be positioned as indicated by the drawing on the device. It is essential to learn how to operate with the YO-YO before using it in real situations. The YO-YO is a locking device that increases safety, but you always must pay full attention in belaying operations: never let go of the free end of the rope. The section and the shape of the carabiner, the diameter of the rope, the characteristic of the sheath and its wear will affect the performance of the device, resulting in a more or less dynamic belay.
